Internship

Every Wednesday, students in grades 10 - 12 participate for a full day in a volunteer internship program with business, university, cultural, artistic, research or health organizations in the community.  Internship sites provide hands-on work and career exploration experiences.  Students earn 0.5 credit per year.

Goals of our Internship Program

  1. To show that community resources can offer an important supplement to the school's curriculum
  2. To allow the Columbus community to participate directly in the education of its most important resource-the students of the Columbus Public Schools
  3. To increase the quality and intensity of the student's individualized courses of study
  4. To afford young people the opportunity to make significant, yet realistic, contributions to the cultural, social, and commercial life of the community.
  5. To strengthen the ties between school and community in Columbus
  6. To help students become aware of different lifetime career options
